Leaders’ Debate: CityNews
May 7 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The leaders of Ontario’s three main political parties will square off in the first televised debate in #CityVote: The debate — focused entirely on issues relevant to those who live and work in Toronto.

The debate will take place May 7, exactly one month before the province heads to the polls. Commercial-free coverage will begin at 6 p.m. live on City, CityNews.ca, the CityNews apps for iOS and Android and the CityNews Facebook page.

The debate will also be broadcast in Punjabi and Mandarin on OMNI 2.

Ontario PC Party Leader Doug Ford, the NDP’s Andrea Horwath and Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne will take part in the event.

This is the date for the Ontario Provincial election, following the
provincial election of 12 June 2014.

From the Election Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. E.6 [1] (revised 7 June 2017):

First Thursday In June

(2) Subject to the powers of the Lieutenant Governor referred to in
subsection (1), general elections shall be held on the first Thursday
in June in the fourth calendar year following polling day in the most
recent general election. 2016, c. 33, s. 7.
